Rack Server Colocation
Collocation refers to the provision of space of telecommunications equipment on a service provider’s collocation centre. The colocation facilities allow web masters to have full control and access to their site, and are particularly suitable for small and medium sized businesses.

Rack Servers

It is the situation when the server is mounted in a rack. A rack is the metal framework that holds electronic equipment and usually contains bays.

Networking protocols

Resource ReSerVation Protocol

The Resource ReSerVation Protocol (RSVP) is a Transport layer protocol designed to reserve resources across a network for an integrated services Internet. RSVP provides receiver-initiated setup of resource reservations for multicast or unicast data flows with scaling and robustness.

Post Office Protocol version 3, SMTP

The Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) is an application-layer Internet protocol used by local e-mail clients. Its purpose is to retrieve e-mail from a remote server over a TCP/IP connection. POP3 and IMAP4 protocols (Internet Message Access Protocol) are the two most prevalent Internet standard protocols for e-mail retrieval.

Open Shortest Path First Protocol

Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is a dynamic routing protocol. It is a link-state routing protocol and is operating within an autonomous system (AS). OSPF is perhaps the most widely-used interior gateway protocol (IGP) in large enterprise networks.

Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol

Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) is a tunneling protocol used for virtual private networks (VPNs). It doesn’t provide any encryption or confidentiality, but it relies on an encryption protocol that it passes within the tunnel to provide privacy. L2TP is a Session Layer protocol, and uses the registered UDP port 1701.

Internet Message Access Protocol

The Internet Message Access Protocol (also know as Internet Mail Access Protocol, Interactive Mail Access Protocol, and Interim Mail Access Protocol, shortly IMAP) is the most prevalent Internet standard protocol for e-mail retrieval. Virtually all modern e-mail clients and servers support both protocols as a means of transferring e-mail messages from a server, such as those used by Gmail, to a client, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook. Once configured, the client's use of such protocols remains transparent to the user.
